Electrolytes and High Blood Pressure

Electrolytes are substances that become ions in solution and acquire the capacity to conduct electricity. Electrolytes are present in the human body, and the balance of the electrolytes in our bodies is essential for normal function of our cells and our organs. Below are some ways that electrolytes can benefit those with high blood pressure.
A high intake of sodium chloride will elevated blood pressure and it will continue to state un regulated in the dietary intake of sodium chloride is not reduced in conjunction with the introduction of potassium, calcium and magnesium.

Adequate calcium is required in the diet to maintain electrolyte balance, regulation of heart beats and also for muscle contraction. Individuals with a lower intake of calcium had a higher blood pressure, however introducing calcium supplements to the diet showed a reduction in the systolic blood pressure.

Potassium is responsible for the control of blood pressure, heart function, reduction of salt retention and stroke, along with many other cardiovascular benefits. An introduction of a potassium supplement may reduce blood pressure by a significant amount.

Magnesium should be consumed in sufficient amounts in diet for heart muscle maintenance, regulation of calcium, potassium and sodium ions,  and relaxation of muscles.  An introduction of magnesium supplements reduced the diastolic blood pressure in individuals.
